Working in a domestic kitchen will require you to be resourceful, discrete, efficient and flexible. You’ll need to be able to menu plan for specific locations, styles and situations, making the most of seasonal, local ingredients. There may be special dietary requirements to take into account and you’ll need knowledge of cooking on specific types of equipment – for example, an Aga. Breakfasts, buffet lunches and for dinner, canapes for drinks and 2 course dinner which will often be a BBQ followed by fruit and cheese. A calm, well-organised, flexible, professional and friendly person is ideal. You will need to be a driver and an understanding of French is useful for shopping.

Family friendly chef is sought to join a team for the summer holidays and potentially longer. The holiday house sleeps up to 14 people and is 5 minutes from Aix where there is a food market everyday. The chef will be responsible for organising the smooth running of the kitchen and serving delicious, high quality meals with an emphasis on fresh produce from the local market and excellent presentation. The chef will work alongside the Guardian of the house (who deals with the running of the property and gardens) and his wife (who cleans the house). However, roles may overlap so you will be expected to work as a team to ensure the guests are comfortable and enjoying a high standard of cuisine and personal service.

Must be a French-speaker; a driver and family friendly.

Accommodation is in a separate house with garden.

Cook would be catering breakfast, lunch and dinner for a core party of 11 which would grow to 14 for a few nights. The cooking does not need to be elaborate, but wholesome and tasty. Good management of the kitchen, supplies and keeping kitchen clean and tidy. The cook will be happy to lay and clear tables. A cheerful, hardworking cook who is fond of children and keen to help the family make a memorable holiday. Accommodation provided within the property.
