Working in a domestic kitchen will require you to be resourceful, discrete, efficient and flexible. You’ll need to be able to menu plan for specific locations, styles and situations, making the most of seasonal, local ingredients. There may be special dietary requirements to take into account and you’ll need knowledge of cooking on specific types of equipment – for example, an Aga. Family cook required for a small houseparty of 4 adults and 4 children in France in July. Cold breakfast; children's lunch and supper; adults' lunch (e.g. tart, salad; fruit, cake) and dinner (relatively smart, three courses). Menu plan to be agreed in advance. Given layout of the house, the chef must be personable and easy to get on with.

BERGERAC - chef for holiday courses

Chef required to cater for paying guests attending seven day courses at a beautiful location in Bergerac, France. Guest numbers will be 10-12 requiring lunch and supper on a daily basis. Lunches are served buffet-style and consist of salads, vegetable tarts, mezze etc with supper being a formally plated main course, cheese board and a dessert. Dishes will be innovative and beautifully presented - Ottolenghi/Mediterranean in style.

In addition to lunch and supper the chef will need to provide morning coffee with homemade biscuits, two canapes each evening for an aperitif. Lunch is at 1pm, canapes at 6.30pm and dinner a 8pm. During free time the chef is free to use the facilities including a salt-water swimming pool. There is a kitchen assistant to help with laying tables, prep and clearing. On one night the guests will go out to eat. Accommodation with ensuite bathroom provided.

Family Holiday near Falmouth

A Leiths-trained chef is required for a family holiday in a beautiful National Trust property near Falmouth. Cook would be catering breakfast, lunch and dinner for a core party of 11 which would grow to 14 for a few nights. The cooking does not need to be elaborate, but wholesome and tasty. Good management of the kitchen, supplies and keeping kitchen clean and tidy. The cook will be happy to lay and clear tables. A cheerful, hardworking cook who is fond of children and keen to help the family make a memorable holiday. Accommodation provided within the property.

Household chef with an understanding of the running of a small country house is needed to cater for 2 people with occasional entertaining and weekend guests. You will have common sense and the ability to be adaptable; you will be patient and understanding. No need for advanced cooking skills but a good understanding of hygiene and good kitchen practice essential. You will be employed and accommodation can be provided. Ideally you will be a driver and there is use of a car.
