You’ll need to be able to menu plan for specific locations, styles and situations, making the most of seasonal, local ingredients. There may be special dietary requirements to take into account and you’ll need knowledge of cooking on specific types of equipment – for example, an Aga. Breakfast to be prepared for family to help themselves; lunches will be light - salads etc and filled baps for those going out; a cake or similar for afternoon tea; dinner will be generally 2 courses with one or two nights more special with canapes and 3 courses. There may be a dinner party with additional guests during the week. Chef will be well-organised, ordering food in advance for delivery. Excellent fish available at Oban harbour. This is a gluten free family, so no wheat. Healthy and delicious - more Ottolenghi than Le Gavroche! The group is composed of adults and young adults (19-21 years old). The holiday will involve lots of different outdoor activities with everyone coming together in the evenings. The assistant will be happy to do some light housework to keep the house in order. Chef will be a driver, there is use of a car.

An experienced private household chef is needed for a live-out position (must be within 40 minute commute of OX7). Must be able to travel with the family for the month of August to the South of France, and for 3-weeks-at-a-time trips to French West Indies in December/January/March and November. Christmas and Bank Holidays are also required work days. Chef will be require on a weekly basis to cook for 3 days - this is normally fridge prepared meals for the family members to heat up themselves. Chef will be creative around specific likes and dislikes and different dietary requirements for family members. There will be more formal lunches and dinners on occasion, but notice will be given of these events. There are several dining areas and kitchens on the estate, each of which is well laid out and well-equipped. When travelling there is a very good standard of staff accommodation, and plenty of down time as the family and guests will often be out for lunches and dinners.

The chef will be passionate about deliciousness and comfortable cooking in private kitchens. The ideal candidate will operate with utmost professionalism. Role includes support with food prep and mise en place; following menu plans precisely; assembling and leaving ready-to-eat lunches for clients; cooking, plating and serving weeknight dinners for clients; cooking, plating and serving hosted dining experiences for clients approximately once per week; receiving and examining food orders; managing stock rotation; daily cleaning of kitchen cooking area. You will have food safety training and certification; experience as a personal or restaurant chef; knowledge of a variety of dietary lifestyles and restrictions; ability to cook different cuisines.

This is a part-time opportunity working Mon-Sat. Average prep shift 9am (for 3 hours) in SW18; average shift 2.30pm (for 5 hours) in SE1 (& various locations). Currently 2-3 shifts per week available with opportunity to increase.
